Baseball Recap: Florala Comes Up Short

Florala lost against Zion Chapel back in March of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Florala fell 7-4 to Zion Chapel. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kennith Dalton Jackson put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Rayshon Coleman was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Easton Walsh, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Florala's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Zion Chapel, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season.

Florala will head out to face off against Pleasant Home at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Florala is facing Pleasant Home at the right time seeing as Pleasant Home is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Zion Chapel, they will welcome Pike County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
