A pair of newcomers join this week's National Player of the Year Watch as Devante "Speedy" Noil of Karr (New Orleans) and Dorian Carter of Beech (Hendersonville, Tenn.) join the usual list of suspects.
Noil accounted for four touchdowns in a
Louisiana showdown between Karr and St. Augustine while Carter has taken over for an ailing All-American at Beech.

Will Grier, Davidson Day (Davidson, N.C.)Grier accounted for at least seven touchdowns for the fourth straight week, throwing five touchdown passes and rushing for two more in a 64-14 win over Harrells Christian Academy. Grier threw for 422 yards (30 of 40 passing), which is actually almost 400 yards less than he threw in a single game against Harrells Christian Academy last year. Grier also had his best rushing performance of the season with 201 yards on the ground. For the season, Grier has completed 88 of 127 passes for 1,448 yards and a nation-leading 25 touchdown passes. He has also rushed for 465 yards on just 29 carries with four touchdowns.{PAGEBREAK}

Tre Watson, Centennial

Tre Watson, Centennial (Corona, Calif.)Long Beach Poly slowed down Tre Watson considerably in a 35-28 win over Centennial last week. After averaging over 12 yards per carry in a win over St. Bonaventure, Watson managed just 64 yards on 24 carries with one touchdown against Poly. Watson still ranks among the national leaders, however, with 849 yards rushing on 94 carries with 13 touchdowns.{PAGEBREAK}

Deshaun Watson, Gainesville (Ga.)Watson soared past the 10,000-yard milestone last week in a 68-0 win over Winder-Barrow as he completed 18 of 26 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran four times for 42 yards and a score. For the season, Watson has completed 67 of 109 passes for 883 yards and nine touchdowns. He has run 32 times for 180 yards and two scores. For his career, Watson has thrown for 10,243 yards in his career and is the only Georgia quarterback to throw for over 10,000 yards.{PAGEBREAK}

Treon Harris, Washington (Miami)Harris led the Tornadoes to their 15th straight win by completing 14 of 18 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-0 win over Carol City. He has completed 49 of 62 passes for 655 yards and 10 touchdowns.{PAGEBREAK}

Kyler Murray, Allen

Kyler Murray, Allen (Texas)In leading Allen to a 3-0 record, Murray has thrown for 800 yards while completing 43 of 68 passes and eight touchdowns. He has also rushed for 157 yards and four touchdowns on 31 carries. Against Richardson in a 52-7 win, Murray completed 13 of 19 passes for 192 yards and four touchdowns.{PAGEBREAK}

Shuler Bentley, Byrnes (Duncan, S.C.)Bentley had a big game against Northwestern (Rock Hill, S.C.) with 408 yards through the air (29 of 40 passing) and three touchdowns. However Northwestern managed to pull off the 42-35 victory. For the season, Bentley has completed 73 of 112 passes for 1,226 yards and 18 touchdowns.{PAGEBREAK}

Mason Rudolph, Northwestern (Rock Hill, S.C.)Rudolph led Northwestern to a 42-35 win over Byrnes in a matchup between two of the top teams in South Carolina last week. Rudolph has now led the Trojans to wins over the last two state champions, Gaffney (2012) and Byrnes (2011 and 2010). He completed 25 of 38 passes for 198 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran 16 times for 70 yards and a touchdown. He has completed 96 of 135 passes for 998 yards and 17 touchdowns on the season.{PAGEBREAK}

Devante "Speedy" Noil, Karr (New Orleans)Noil led Karr to a 33-24 win over St. Augustine and its heralded recruit Leonard Fournette, as he completed 9 of 16 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed 11 times for 81 yards and two scores. Noil did not play the first half of Karr's first game of the season, a 34-12 win over St. Paul's, but he finished with 97 yards passing and 93 yards rushing.{PAGEBREAK}

Jake Browning, Folsom (Calif.)Browning hit for seven touchdowns for the second time this season, this time in a 56-23 win over a solid Roseville squad. He completed 23 of 32 passes for 371 yards and now has 1,029 yards passing (78 of 103) with 16 touchdowns.{PAGEBREAK}

Dorian Carter, Beech (Hendersonville, Tenn.)When All-American candidate Jalen Hurd went down with a shoulder injury in the first game of the season, Beech needed a running back to step forward and carry the load. Carter has done just that, carrying the ball 54 times for 310 yards in 28-21 win over Independence. The carries are the second highest in state history for a single game (56 is the record). Carter has 750 yards rushing on the season on 121 carries for 3-1 Beech. He had 223 yards on 34 carries in a 40-36 win over Gallatin two weeks ago.
