Softball Game Preview: Warren Central Warriors vs. Eastern Hancock Royals

The Warren Central Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Eastern Hancock Royals at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Warren Central has given up an average of 13.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Warren Central came up short against North Central on Tuesday, falling 13-3. The Warriors have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Gabi Hilliard made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Warbinton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Eastern Hancock came up short against Triton Central on Monday and fell 5-2.

McKenna Stewart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Addisyn Trackwell was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was her first of the season.

Eastern Hancock has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Warren Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Warren Central might still be hurting after the 17-1 defeat they got from Eastern Hancock when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
