Softball Recap: Jefferson Davis Academy Takes a Loss

Jefferson Davis Academy had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 6-11 to make it four. They came up short against Holly Hill Academy, falling 15-5. That's two games in a row now that Jefferson Davis Academy has lost by exactly ten runs.

Jefferson Davis Academy saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Jackson, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

As for Holly Hill Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4. The result was nothing new for Holly Hill Academy, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Holly Hill Academy's side, Taylor Wright was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Wright was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kaylee Brabham was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Abby Burleson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson Davis Academy will take on Dorchester Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson Davis Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Dorchester Academy has averaged an impressive 11 runs per game this season. As for Holly Hill Academy, they will square off against St. John's Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
