Baseball Game Preview: Sayre Eagles vs. Shattuck Indians

The Sayre Eagles will head out to take on the Shattuck Indians at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.

Sayre is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Hammon on Thursday. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 9-1. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Shattuck came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Bearcats as they made off with a 10-2 win. Ten seems to be a good number for the Indians as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Shattuck's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sayre, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 4-1.

Sayre suffered a grim 16-10 defeat to Shattuck in their previous matchup back in April of 2016. Can Sayre avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
