Volleyball Recap: Millennium Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Sunnyslope

Millennium faced Sunnyslope in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Tigers fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-2.

Millennium actually scored more points across those five sets (107-102), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 20-25, 16-25, 26-24, 15-11.

Their offense was headlined by Isaac Sanchez and DJ White, who picked up 22 kills apiece. They got some help from Lucas Chavez and his 38 assists. Finally, Sanchez was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Millennium's defeat dropped their record down to 19-13. As for Sunnyslope, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-5.

Coming up, Millennium will venture away from home to face off against Chandler at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sunnyslope, they will host Boulder Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
