Softball Recap: Patriot Beats Freedom for Their Sixth Straight Victory

After losing to Freedom the last time they met, Patriot decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pioneers came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 11-6 on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Pioneers as they're now sitting on six straight.

Lillian Hanner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Aubrey Shelton was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Natalie Stanton, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Patriot's record is now 10-4. As for Freedom, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-8 record.

Coming up, Patriot will take on Battlefield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Freedom, they will welcome Loudoun County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Captains have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
