Baseball Recap: La Villa Cardinals vs. Ben Bolt Badgers
La Villa had lost 14 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-14 to make it 15. They lost 14-2 to the Ben Bolt Badgers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Badgers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-9 back in March.
As for Ben Bolt, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. The result was nothing new for Ben Bolt, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
For Ben Bolt's part, Cristian Chapa was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Chapa has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Walker Dunlavy was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kris Guzman, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
