Basketball Recap: Curry Comes Up Short

If Curry was riding high fresh off their 48-23 takedown of Oakman last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between the Curry Yellowjackets and the Dora Bulldogs didn't end well, with the Curry Yellowjackets falling 44-29. The defeat continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost eight in a row.

Dora's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bella Reese, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Reese's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Millicent Wilson was another key player, putting up 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Curry's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Dora, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Bugs the Curry Yellowjackets duke it out with the Corner Yellow Jackets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Dora, they will face off against Carbon Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Dora is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season.
