Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Poly walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-47 win over the Rancho Verde Mustangs on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Bears, who have now won seven contests in a row.

Poly's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-9. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.6 points. As for Rancho Verde, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-7.

Coming up, Poly is taking a road trip to challenge Fairmont Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairmont Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Poly likes a good challenge. Rancho Verde does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
