Softball Game Preview: Lockhart Lions vs. Hays Hawks

The Lockhart Lions will square off against the Hays Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lockhart has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 15.

It was a proper cat-fight when Lockhart took on Liberty Hill on Friday. Lockhart fell 6-3 to Liberty Hill.

Marissa Sosa and Eveylyn Rodriguez did some serious damage despite the final result: Sosa went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Rodriguez scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Presli Moebes also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Hays also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Rouse by a score of 8-4.

Hailey Ruiz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted over her last eight matchups. Another player making a difference was Teuila Eteaki, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Lockhart's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Hays, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-6.

Lockhart couldn't quite finish off Hays in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can Lockhart avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
