Mahnomen/Waubun strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against the Cass Lake-Bena Panthers by a score of 6-3. For the Thunderbirds, this counts as revenge for the 8-7 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Owen Drinkwine was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Leeland Heisler, who scored a run and stole four bases.

Mahnomen/Waubun's victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Mahnomen/Waubun and Cass Lake-Bena will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Thunderbirds will challenge rival Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cass Lake-Bena is set to face off against their familiar foe Pine River-Backus at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
