Baseball Recap: Cosumnes Oaks Comes Up Short

Cosumnes Oaks had lost six straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 8-17 to make it seven. They lost 16-0 to the Franklin Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, with their most recent defeat being a 14-0 loss on Wednesday.

Cosumnes Oaks saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

As for Franklin, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That lines up perfectly with their 21-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games.

On Franklin's side, Kyle Timmons was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Timmons has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Franklin got a massive performance out of Dylan Minnatee, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jason Harris, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

As of now, neither Cosumnes Oaks nor Franklin have any future games scheduled.
