Football Recap: Daniella Haynes Leads Everglades' Defense on Wednesday

Everglades was the 6-0 winner over Pembroke Pines Charter when they last played one another back in April of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Everglades Gators took a 13-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars.

When it comes to explaining why Everglades lost on Wednesday, don't look at Janaiya Tillman. Despite the final result, she picked up 72 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 133 yards and one touchdown.

Everglades didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Daniella Haynes, Mariyah Morning, and Amber Beautelus picked up one apiece. Morning is crushing it when it comes to interceptions: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Everglades' defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Everglades will challenge South Plantation at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Everglades' defense has only allowed nine points per game this season, so South Plantation's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they will square off against Cypress Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Pembroke Pines Charter 6.6, Cypress Bay 5.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
