Basketball Game Preview: Newman Central Catholic Comets vs. Forreston Cardinals

The Newman Central Catholic Comets will square off against the Forreston Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Forreston took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Newman Central Catholic, who comes in off a win.

Newman Central Catholic will bounce into Saturday's match after beating Hall, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Newman Central Catholic walked away with a 47-37 win over Hall on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comets.

Meanwhile, Forreston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Pecatonica 61-23. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 603rd, while the Indians are ranked 81st).

Newman Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 22-9. As for Forreston, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-22.
