Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Antonio Dixon and Peyton Parker Lead Huntington to Victory

On Tuesday, the Huntington Raiders didn't have too much trouble with the Byrd Yellow Jackets as they won 61-44. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 321st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Huntington to victory were Peyton Parker and Antonio Dixon. Parker went 7-for-16 to rack up 17 points in addition to six assists and six steals, while Dixon dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Parker a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was LaCedrick Allen, who posted four points and eight rebounds.

Huntington has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. As for Byrd, their defeat was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-27.

Looking ahead, Huntington will host Haughton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Byrd, they are taking a road trip to take on North Webster at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Byrd is facing North Webster at the right time seeing as North Webster is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
