Baseball Game Preview: Council Grove Braves vs. Osage City Indians

Council Grove is 1-9 against Osage City since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Braves will host the Indians at 2:00 p.m. Council Grove's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Osage City's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Council Grove is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Herington a 15-0 shutout. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Osage City had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against West Franklin two weeks ago by a score of 1-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since April 3rd.

Not much got past JD Tyson, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep West Franklin off the board. Tyson also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Osage City is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Osage City secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Max Pearson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Council Grove has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Osage City, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.

Council Grove might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Osage City when the teams last played back in April. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
