Volleyball Recap: Los Gatos Wildcats vs. St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats

Los Gatos and St. Ignatius College Preparatory squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Los Gatos had to settle for second. They came up short against the St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats, falling 3-0. The shutout was out of character for Los Gatos seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.

While Los Gatos was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-15, 25-23.

Mia Halsey paced Los Gatos' offense, picking up ten kills. Halsey got some help from Maya Walker and her 15 assists. Halsey was also a major player on defense: she and Reilly Ann Mendez shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.

Los Gatos' loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-6. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-12 record this season.
