Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Rams vs. Custer County Bobcats

The Centennial Rams will challenge the Custer County Bobcats at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Centennial lost 21-1 to Questa two weeks ago. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly 20 runs.

Custer County never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Florence on Wednesday. They blew past the Huskies 18-8.

Ty Stoltzfus and Wesley Bennett did most of the damage at the plate: Stoltzfus went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Bennett went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Stoltzfus a new career-high. Wade Pierce was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Custer County, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.

Centennial suffered a grim 22-0 defeat to Custer County in their previous matchup back in May of 2021. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
