Basketball Game Preview: Spring Creek Gators vs. Princeton Bulldogs

Spring Creek hasn't had much luck against Princeton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Spring Creek Gators will be playing at home against the Princeton Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Spring Creek is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since February 16, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt an 84-53 loss at the hands of Eastern Wayne. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 459th, while the Warriors are ranked 188th).

Meanwhile, Princeton played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 85-62 to Goldsboro. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost eight in a row.

Spring Creek will have to contain Garrett Lane as he made an impact in Princeton's last game. He went 8 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points. The dominant performance gave Lane a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Cole Woodall, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and six rebounds.

Princeton's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Spring Creek, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-8.

Spring Creek came up short against Princeton in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 76-68. Can Spring Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
