Baseball Game Preview: Waterloo Cougars vs. Wheeler Eagles

The Waterloo Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the Wheeler Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Wheeler took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Waterloo, who comes in off a win.

While Cougars fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Thursday's season opener. Everything went their way against Vina on Thursday as they made off with a 20-3 win. The Cougars have beaten the Red Devils the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Red Devils has come to flipping the script.

Brocke Goacher and Jacob Hart made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Goacher struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hart pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Goacher went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Hart went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ryan Benson was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI. Landon Fox was another key player, going 2-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
