Softball Recap: Canon-McMillan Big Macs vs. Woodland Hills Wolverines

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canon-McMillan). Everything went their way against the Woodland Hills Wolverines on Monday as they made off with a 16-0 win. With that victory, the Big Macs brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Lyla Mowery was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Aurora Shirdon was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Harley Tournay was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Canon-McMillan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .929. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Canon-McMillan now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Woodland Hills, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
