The Mattanawcook Lynx will head out to challenge the Dexter Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mattanawcook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
While Mattanawcook's win against Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lynx had just enough and edged out the Red Devils 9-7. The victory continues a trend for the Lynx in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won six in a row.
Julianna Cloukey spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, Addison Cyr was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Gabby Tash also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Dexter had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Ponies. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Kallie Stone made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Stone was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Desiree Adams, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Skylar Gulley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Mattanawcook's record is now 6-3. As for Dexter, their record now sits at 7-3.
Everything went Mattanawcook's way against Dexter in their previous meeting back in April, as Mattanawcook made off with a 9-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lynx since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
