Softball Recap: Robbinsville Beats Hayesville for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Robbinsville came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Hayesville Yellowjackets as they made off with a 12-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-3 on Friday.

Robbinsville got a great performance from Presley Caylor as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Caylor has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kynadee Spencer was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophie Roberts, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Robbinsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Robbinsville's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hayesville, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Robbinsville will square off against rival Swain County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Black Knights 2.4, the Maroon Devils 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Hayesville is set to take on their familiar foe Murphy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
