Basketball Recap: Shawn Lombardi Key Part of a Team Effort in Wardens Win

Powell County won the last time they faced Granite and things went their way on Friday too. The Powell County Wardens came out on top against the Granite Prospectors by a score of 42-31. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wardens.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Powell County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shawn Lombardi, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Lombardi has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chase Henze, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Powell County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Powell County's record now sits at 6-2. As for Granite, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

When Powell County and Granite next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Powell County will try to stop Florence-Carlton's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Powell County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Granite will try to stop Lincoln's five-game winning streak when the meet at 5:00 p.m. on January 25th.
