Softball Recap: Triton Takes a Loss

Triton managed to slip by Harnett Central the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hawks came up short against the Trojans on Tuesday, falling 11-5. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Bailey Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Lucas, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Triton and nudges their season record down to 13-4. As for Harnett Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

While Triton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
