Football Recap: Hutchinson Salthawks vs. South Cougars
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hutchinson had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-7 win over the South Cougars. 42 seems to be a good number for the Salthawks as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Despite the defeat, South saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ja?Brien Curtis picked up 147 receiving yards and a touchdown. Those 147 receiving yards set a new season-high mark for Curtis. Landon Putman also helped out by tossing the rock for 252 yards.
The win (which was Hutchinson's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. As for South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.
Hutchinson will host Liberal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberal is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 32.6 points per game this season. South does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
