Baseball Recap: Red River Comes Up Short

Red River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lakeside Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-4 last Thursday.

John Dickey and Eli Murphy did some serious damage despite the final result: Dickey went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Murphy went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Dickey has become a key player for Red River: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 9-13-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Williamson, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Red River's loss dropped their record down to 14-14-1. As for Lakeside, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lakeside beat Red River by a score of 12-2 later that day.
