Basketball Recap: Sunnyside Blue Devils vs. Tucson High Magnet School Badgers
The Sunnyside Blue Devils can now show off 16 landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 73-33 victory over Tucson High Magnet School. Winning may never get old, but Sunnyside sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
It was another big night for Nayeli Nidez-Acu?a, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Esabella Barajas, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Icela South and Kamila Vasavilbaso certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. South scored nine points along with five rebounds, while Vasavilbaso scored five points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. Vasavilbaso has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Sunnyside pushed their record up to 24-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season.
Sunnyside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Tucson High Magnet School also has no future games currently scheduled.
