Baseball Game Preview: Central Heights Vikings vs. Southeast Lancers

The Central Heights Vikings will square off against the Southeast Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central Heights is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Central Heights is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Jayhawk Linn with a sharp 24-2 victory on Monday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.

Kreig Garrett made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game.

In other pitching news, Roarke Brock looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Jotham Meyer was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Payton Miller was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Central Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, Southeast finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They lost 11-1 to Columbus. The contest marked the Lancers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Central Heights' win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.4 runs over those games. As for Southeast, they moved to 5-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
