Preview: Discovery Canyon Thunder vs. Air Academy Kadets
Discovery Canyon has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Air Academy Kadets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Air Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Discovery Canyon, who comes in off a win.
Even though Rampart scored an imposing 61 points on Saturday, Discovery Canyon still came out on top. Discovery Canyon snuck past Rampart with a 67-61 win. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 12 more assists than your opponent, as Discovery Canyon did.
Discovery Canyon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hugh Tarpenning, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Tarpenning hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Michah Rohacs, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Air Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Palmer on the road by a decisive 61-45 margin. The game was a 25-25 toss-up at halftime, but Air Academy was outscored by Palmer in the second.
Discovery Canyon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Air Academy, they bumped their record down to 3-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Discovery Canyon was taken down by Air Academy 85-36 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Discovery Canyon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
