Basketball Recap: Permian Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Permian won the last time they faced Odessa and things went their way on Thursday too. The Permian Panthers walked away with a 58-50 win over the Odessa Bronchos. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Bronchos are ranked 595th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Permian's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Odessa, they now have a losing record at 12-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Permian beat Odessa by a score of 58-50 on Friday.
