Crestview had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 8-6 to make it four. They came up short against the Beaver Local Beavers, falling 17-4. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Beavers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.
Gia Depace made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alivia Shetler, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.
As for Beaver Local, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.
On Beaver Local's side, Ciara Call made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave Call a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Brylee Curtis and Addie Thurik did most of the damage at the plate: Curtis fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-3, while Thurik went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Curtis has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Gianna Congrove was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Coming up, Crestview will host Garfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Beaver Local, they will take on Bellaire at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
