Softball Game Preview: Assumption Mustangs vs. St. John Eagles + How To Watch

The Assumption Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the St. John Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Assumption turned things around against Morgan City on Tuesday. They never let the Tigers get on the board and left with an 8-0 win.

Lilia Alleman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kynlee Grisaffe and Whitney Diaz did most of the damage at the plate: Grisaffe got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and one run, while Diaz got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three RBI gave Grisaffe a new career-high.

Assumption always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morgan City only posted an OBP of .364.

Meanwhile, St. John got the win against White Castle on Monday by a conclusive 18-0.

Assumption's record is now 6-10. As for St. John, their record now sits at 7-2.

Assumption was able to grind out a solid victory over St. John when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 10-5. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
