For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Fernley and Spring Creek meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Vaqueros blew past the Spartans 14-1. The result was nothing new for the Vaqueros, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Fernley got a massive performance out of Taylor Tollestrup, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Tollestrup has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Moffett, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fernley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive games.
