Preview: Hudson Raiders vs. New Richmond Tigers
The Hudson Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the New Richmond Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Hudson sitting on six straight wins and New Richmond on eight.
Last Friday, Hudson got themselves on the board against Superior, but Superior never followed suit. They breezed by the Spartans on the road to the tune of 35-0. Given Hudson's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Superior is ranked 216th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely New Richmond's strategy against Eau Claire North on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that New Richmond blew Eau Claire North out of the water with a 33-0 final score. New Richmond pushed the score to 26-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Eau Claire North had little chance of recovering from.
New Richmond's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Miles Burke, who rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. New Richmond also got help from George Schroeder who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.
New Richmond's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Bjorn Bahneman and his two sacks.
Their wins bumped Hudson to 7-1 and New Richmond to 8-0.
Hudson was able to grind out a solid victory over New Richmond in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, winning 30-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hudson since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
