Basketball Game Preview: Sebastian River Sharks vs. Heritage Panthers

Sebastian River is 2-7 against Heritage since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Sebastian River Sharks will take on the Heritage Panthers in a tournament on Friday.

On Monday, Sebastian River came up short against Central and fell 52-40. The loss was the Sharks' first of the season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Payton DeGroat, who posted seven points and four steals. Jayda Pickard was another key player, putting up eight points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heritage). They blew past Merritt Island 67-19 on Friday. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 36 points or more this season.

Heritage's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points per game. As for Sebastian River, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-1.

Sebastian River couldn't quite finish off Heritage in their previous matchup back in February and fell 34-32. Can Sebastian River avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
