Basketball Recap: Lower Brule Piles Up the Points Against Sunshine Bible Academy

Lower Brule had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 31-point drubbing they dealt Sunshine Bible Academy on Tuesday. The Lower Brule Sioux breezed by the Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders to the tune of 64-33. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Sioux had established a 22 point advantage.

Trey Thieman and Isaac Hague certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Thieman dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards, while Hague posted five points. Jensen Wipf also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Lower Brule has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Sunshine Bible Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Lower Brule has already played their next contest, a 52-36 win against Sisseton on the 18th. As for Sunshine Bible Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 77-29 defeat against Wolsey-Wessington on the 17th.
