Basketball Recap: Jordan Crowder's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central over Andrew Jackson

Central easily dispatched Buford last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Central Eagles fell just short of the Andrew Jackson Volunteers by a score of 61-59 on Monday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Volunteers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Central's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Crowder, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Crowder a new career-high in assists (seven). Caden Edmond was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

Jy'Kevius Johnson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 14 boards for Andrew Jackson. Johnson has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Damias Seegars, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Andrew Jackson, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.

Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-60 defeat against York Prep on the 12th. As for Andrew Jackson, they have also already played their next contest, a 79-44 victory against Cheraw on the 12th.
