Volleyball Recap: Catholic Central's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Catholic Central can bid farewell to their seven-match losing streak thanks to their match on Monday. They skirted past the Racine Horlick Rebels 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hilltoppers have posted since August 26th.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Catholic Central who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-17, 22-25, 27-25, 23-25, 15-7.

Karley Loos paced Catholic Central's offense, picking up 16 kills. Loos got some help from Averie Calkins and her 30 assists. Loos was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-15. As for Racine Horlick, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Catholic Central and Racine Horlick could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Hilltoppers (ranked 403rd) will meet University School of Milwaukee (ranked 131st) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Racine Horlick will square off against Indian Trail at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (454 vs. 59).
