Basketball Game Preview: Smithfield Packers vs. Bruton Panthers + How To Watch

The Smithfield Packers are taking a road trip to square off against the Bruton Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Smithfield will be strutting in after a victory while Bruton will be coming in after a defeat.

Smithfield took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They breezed past Isle of Wight Academy to the tune of 69-15.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Bruton duked it out with Tabb on Thursday. The Panthers fell 62-58 to the Tigers. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Tigers since Thursday.

Smithfield will need to focus on slowing down Cy Gresham, one of several Bruton players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7-for-14 on his way to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Johnathan Hopkins, who shot 67% from the field en route to 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Smithfield couldn't quite finish off Bruton when the teams last played back in February and fell 70-67. Can the Packers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
