Soccer Game Preview: Peoria Notre Dame vs. Rochester

The Peoria Notre Dame Irish will face off against the Rochester Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Peoria Notre Dame's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They skirted past Fremd 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Peoria Notre Dame were the better team in the second half.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Rochester and Springfield, and Springfield kept the tradition alive. The Rockets came up short against the Senators on Tuesday, falling 6-1. Rochester were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 3-0.

Their goal came courtesy of Cami Berberet, which was the first she's scored this season.

Peoria Notre Dame's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 50 goals over those ten games. As for Rochester, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8-1 record this season.

Peoria Notre Dame beat Rochester by a goal in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 1-0. Will the Irish repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
