Soccer Game Preview: Sehome vs. Nooksack Valley

Sehome is 6-1 against Nooksack Valley since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Mariners will face off against the Pioneers at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sehome has five straight victories, Nooksack Valley has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

On Saturday, Sehome was able to grind out a solid win over Blaine, taking the game 3-1. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Sehome's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Blaine are ranked 241st).

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Nooksack Valley and Anacortes meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Pioneers lost 5-0 to the Seahawks.

Sehome pushed their record up to 12-0-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those three matchups. As for Nooksack Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Sehome took their victory against Nooksack Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 9-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mariners since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
