Basketball Recap: Westfield Victorious

On Monday, the Westfield Blue Devils didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Middle Township Panthers, but they still walked away with a 58-53 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Devils.

When it comes to explaining why Middle Township lost, don't look at Jamir McNeil. Despite the final result, he en route to 25 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Amir Elston, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Westfield's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Middle Township, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-8.

Westfield and Middle Township should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. Westfield (ranked 28th) will meet East Side (ranked 143rd) on Thursday. Meanwhile, Middle Township will take on Pleasantville on Thursday up 267 places (34 vs. 301).
