Preview: Baraboo Thunderbirds vs. Tomah Timberwolves
Baraboo is 3-0 against Tomah since November of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Baraboo Thunderbirds will head out on the road to face off against the Tomah Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Wisconsin (Baraboo is ranked 141st, while Tomah is ranked 160th).
Last Thursday, Baraboo was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 32-28 to Sparta. Baraboo has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Tomah had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past Onalaska 38-13.
Logan Rufledt continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 297 yards and three touchdowns. Rufledt is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Elijah Brown was in the mix too, providing Tomah with two touchdowns.
With Baraboo's defeat and Tomah's victory, both teams now sport identical 5-4 records.
Baraboo was able to grind out a solid victory over Tomah in their previous matchup back in August, winning 28-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Baraboo since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
