Basketball Game Preview: Pacific Pirates vs. Miller Rebels

The Pacific Pirates will square off against the Miller Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Pacific turned things around against Entrepreneur on Tuesday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 63-26 win over the Panthers. Considering the Pirates' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Pacific's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maurice Fitzgerald, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 24 rebounds. Fitzgerald is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least 12 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Douglas Perez, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds.

Pacific smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Miller had to suffer through a 126-56 loss at the hands of San Bernardino. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pacific's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-16. As for Miller, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
