Volleyball Recap: Monroe Area Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Monroe Area can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the West Hall Spartans. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Purple Hurricanes also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Monroe Area took both sets by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-12.

Marley Connell paced Monroe Area's offense, picking up seven kills. Connell got some help from Alyssa Brown and her 14 assists. Connell also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Innocence Arnold, racking up three apiece.

Monroe Area's win bumped their record up to 6-14. As for West Hall, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, Monroe Area and West Hall will both be playing Cherokee Bluff the next time they take the court. The Spartans will head out to face the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Purple Hurricanes will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
