Softball Recap: Kenton Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Kenton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They put the hurt on the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans with a sharp 17-4 win on Wednesday. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Kylee Kavanaugh made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Kavanaugh was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. That run marked the first that she scored this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Totten, who fired off three home runs and seven RBI while going 5-for-5. Macee Heckathorn was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Kenton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Kenton's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Ottawa-Glandorf, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kenton will venture away from home to take on Elida at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Ottawa-Glandorf, they will head out to face off against Kalida at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
