Basketball Recap: Spring Woods Tigers vs. Cypress Creek Cougars
The Spring Woods Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight defeat. They were beaten by Cypress Creek 71-44. While losing is never fun, Spring Woods can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 980th, while the Cougars are ranked 176th).
Despite the defeat, Spring Woods had strong showings from Trae Pickens, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds, and Jaelin Bargas, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. It was the first time this season that Pickens scored 15 or more points.
Spring Woods has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-21 record this season. As for Cypress Creek, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-12.
Spring Woods will square off against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Northbrook is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Cypress Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cypress Ridge is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
