Basketball Recap: Wayne County Wildcats vs. Summertown Eagles
After flying high against Lewis County on Monday, Wayne County came back down to earth. The Wildcats took a hard 75-56 fall against the Summertown Eagles on Tuesday. The loss was the Wildcats' first of the season.
Despite the loss, Wayne County still got an impressive performance from Case Butler, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Logan Davis, who posted ten points and six assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Summertown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryder Blackwood, who shot 83% from the field on his way to 15 points and seven boards. Those 15 points gave Blackwood a new career-high. Graham Howell was another key player, going 7-for-10 en route to 18 points.
Having lost for the first time this season, Wayne County fell to 3-1. As for Summertown, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
Looking ahead, Wayne County will face off against Alcorn Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Summertown, they are taking a road trip to face off against Perry County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
